Galatians And The Two Covenants
How does a covenant work? What happens in our modern world when one side breaks a covenant? A covenant is simply an agreement between two parties. It spells out the benefits and consequences if either side obeys or disobeys the covenant.
Galatians chapter 4 is often used as proof text that the law is done away with. Paul is not using Hagar to represent the law at Sinai. Paul is using Hagar to represent the PEOPLE at Sinai. The people were falling down and worshipping false gods of the world. The new covenant is for people who will obey and follow the agreement and turn away from the false gods of the world.
It’s really quite simple.
